**Projects that are more complex, involve multiple parties, or require extensive negotiation or research may be quoted separately at a preferred flat rate. If you are unsure whether your matter qualifies as an included project, we will clarify before work begins.
***Document review includes reading, commenting, and light markup. Overages for calls/emails/document review billed at discounted rate.
Frequently asked questions
Can I switch plans or cancel?
Yes. Plans are month‑to‑month (unless you have signed on for a 1-year minimum commitment). You can upgrade, downgrade, or cancel before your next billing date (or, if you have signed onto a 1-year commitment, on the anniversary date of your annual contract). Unused benefits don’t roll over.
Do you only advise on Ontario law?
Yes. I advise on Ontario and applicable federal law. Matters requiring other jurisdictions will be coordinated with local counsel.
What about conflicts checks and engagement terms?
Before services begin, we’ll run a conflicts check and execute a written engagement agreement that sets the scope, confidentiality, and billing terms in accordance with Law Society of Ontario rules.
Are subscription fees refundable?
Subscriptions are billed monthly and are not refundable once the month starts. If you signed a 1-year commitment, then you will be billed annually and the discounted annual fee is not refundable once the year starts. If a conflicts check fails before services begin, any payment will be reversed or refunded.
What if I need in‑person meetings?
Most work is handled virtually. In‑person meetings can be arranged in Ottawa by appointment.
