Nicolas is an articling student at Grandmaître Virgo Evans. He is fluently bilingual and currently articles in Family Law and Wills and Estates. He graduated from the University of Ottawa’s French Common Law Program in 2022 and hopes to be called to the Ontario bar in 2023.

Nicolas is a strong advocate who prioritizes personal choice, freedom, and cooperation over conflict. His primary goal is to educate and assist his clients so that they can feel empowered and confident in organizing their own affairs and navigating the complex worlds of law and litigation. He strives to offer flexible solutions that reflect the ever-changing needs of his clientele while staunchly protecting their best interests.

During law school, Nicolas prioritized honing his litigation skills and gaining experience in court. He was one of four first-year francophone students selected to participate in the Hicks Morley Moot Competition. He secured his first job in family law only a few months before starting his second year. In his third year, he and his team won the Coupe Guy Guérin, a regional trial advocacy competition, during which he personally won the award for Best Opening Statement. He went on to represent his school at the national Sopinka Cup trial advocacy competition as one of only sixteen candidates selected across Canada.

Nicolas brings diversity and creativity to the practice of law thanks to his ability to draw on his life. Having worked since the ripe age of eleven on his family’s dairy farm, he understands the value of hard work, accountability, and team effort. In addition, his academic background in philosophy and his more than twenty years in music, improvisation, and theatre help him stay confident and quick on his feet while inspiring him to develop creative solutions to his clients’ needs.

Outside of work, Nicolas keeps busy physically and creatively: he has been an avid practitioner of mixed martial arts for years; he staves off boredom with books and podcasts on history, ethics, and philosophy; he frequently organizes jam sessions with other musicians; and he enjoys online gaming nights to spend time with his friends from all over the continent.
